Prepping teeth on top of temporaries

Hi,

I finally decided to get my emax veneers with minimal prep - my dentist took impressions of my original teeth made a exocad design of my new teeth and got a 3 model printed of my new teeth

To see how the new teeth will appear in my mouth the dentist used temporary enamel wax like material to transfer the 3d printed model to my teeth and after taking pics and making sure that I was ok with the new shape of my teeth he removed the temporary material from my teeth

Now the next step is to prep my teeth - but he informs me that we need to set the temporary 3d model again on my teeth before prepping them so that my actual teeth are minimally prepped - my common sense tells me that we should not prep after coating them with the temp wax material…

Prepping teeth on top of temporaries can save time but risks uneven margins, inadequate isolation, or compromised accuracy. Careful planning, proper stabilization, and adequate temporary thickness are essential for success.

They removed the temporaries before showing me the final veneer. When I chose the color the assistant pushed for a color that I thought was too dark and I chose a lighter color which she referred to as toilet bowl light and said they would be really white; surprise, I don’t feel my teeth are white enough. The veneer looked brighter under the dental light than it does in natural light. I also felt like the assistant who tried the veneers in my mouth was very pushy with her opinion that it was difficult to form my own opinion as I was being told it was perfect. I am not loving the way they look. I feel like…

How can I smile attractively?

We all have our own qualms about our looks. For me, my teeth have always been a pain point. I never had braces growing up (a suggestion never made by my dentist despite some minor crookedness), and their shape was small and a bit jagged.

In any event, I found myself hiding my teeth with my lips when I laughed or giving a meek, close-mouthed smile to strangers. I stopped showing teeth in pictures altogether.

It’s a lot like gluing acrylic nails over real nails. When you get veneers, you’re essentially getting artificial enamel. Veneers can change how the teeth look in terms of size, length, shape, or color. You can get them done to close gaps and to fix…
